Victory the only option as Duchy face Dorset
Cornwall go into tomorrow's Minor Counties Championship game with Dorset at St Austell (11am) with the requirement crystal clear.
They need to win over the next three days at Wheal Eliza or their title hopes will disappear for another year.
Dorset arrive as the western division leaders and Cornwall are 18 points adrift in equal fifth spot with Devon.
A win for Cornwall, and favourable results elsewhere, would set up the final game of the season against second-placed Berkshire at Truro with a title chance still alive. Anything less however and it will again be a case of another frustrating season for the Duchy, where the weather has again played it's part.
Two of the four championship games have been ruined this season. Any chance of a positive result at Torquay in the opening game went out of the window when four sessions were lost to rain.
Similarly at Whitchurch, in the last game against Shropshire, the game was ruined by various delays culminating in the third day being washed out all bar 2.2 overs.
To add insult to injury the weather in the south and east of the country remained dry with Dorset narrowly beating Herefordshire at Bournemouth, while Cheshire reignited their hopes of retaining their title with victory over Berkshire at Finchampstead.
It means Dorset lead the table with 69 points. Berkshire have 65, Cheshire 61, Shropshire 53 and Cornwall are in equal fifth on 51 points.
Dorset's championship season has seen a rain-affected draw away to Berkshire. Their last pair dramatically then held on for a draw at Bridgnorth against Shropshire. Their season came alive with a couple of dramatic wins at Bournemouth.
Cornwall have made a couple of changes from the team on duty at Shropshire. Gary Thomas and Neil Ivamy are unavailable so Falmouth's Antony Angove and Paul's Kelvin Snell have been recalled. Snell played in the first two championship games this year, but missed the trip to Wiltshire through injury. Angove has only featured in the one-day game with Devon in early May and will make his 14th championship appearance.
Cornwall: T Sharp (Truro, capt), D Roberts (St Just), M Robins (Callington), D Davis (Callington), K Parsons (Taunton St Andrews), C Hunkin (Grampound Road), M Horwell (Werrington) S Hockin (Werrington), A Smeeth (Werrington), A Angove (Falmouth), K Snell (Paul).
