View to a 'vodcast'
THREE short films have been made about Launceston in a bid to promote the town and attract more tourists.
The films, known as 'vodcasts', will be launched during a special presentation event on Saturday, October 19, and the public are encouraged to attend.
Launceston Town Council was able to commission the videos to be professionally filmed and edited after it successfully secured grant funding from East Cornwall Local Action Group. Each film covers a different aspect of the town – the Lawrence House Museum, the Newport area and the town centre – and will enable people near and far to view the town in all its glory; as a destination for a day out, for shopping, or a good base from which to explore other parts of Cornwall.
The footage will be uploaded to various websites.

Town mayor Dave Gordon said: "This grant has provided us with a wonderful opportunity to work together to promote Launceston to a wider audience, and hopefully to persuade people who might otherwise overlook us that we have a great little town with a lot to offer." The films will be shown on a big-screen at the launch event, and refreshments will be provided throughout the day by the chamber of commerce.
There will be stalls to promote the various aspects of Launceston which were covered in the filming, and all those taking part in the films have been invited to attend to view the end result.
A short speech by the mayor at midday will officially launch the works and will enable the town council to thank everyone involved for their hard work.
