Vintage cars' pit stop to see students
SOME of Britain's rarest and oldest cars made a pit stop in Ivybridge during a classic car rally from Barnstaple to Plymouth.
The drivers called in to see students at the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust in the town. A minibus-load of students followed the rally to its finishing line on the Hoe, where they all had cream teas.
Mary Aspinall, the deputy Lord Mayor of Plymouth, and Kate Aspinall, the deputy Lady Mayoress, joined the drivers and students.
The rally raised £1,918.50 for the trust.
Among the 26 cars in the rally were a 1934 Alvis Speed 20SC and the 2008 Murtaya open sports kit car, the first such model produced by the Cornish firm Adrenaline Motorsport Ltd.
Becky Kerr, community fundraising manager for Dame Hannah's, said: "We are delighted that Plymouth Motor Club are supporting Dame Hannah's and honoured to have the opportunity to look at some really amazing classic cars."
