Volunteers needed for county wide beach clean
Environmental groups in Cornwall are appealing for volunteers to take part in their Great Cornish Beach Clean event this weekend.
Volunteer Cornwall and Clean Cornwall are looking for people to pick litter from 10 of the Duchy’s beaches between 11am and 1pm on Sunday.
It is hoped that the event will help show that Cornwall is open for business after the recent spate of storms and destructive weather.
The 10 beaches involved include, Summerleaze beach in Bude, Polzeath, Looe, Gyllyngvase beach in Falmouth, Porthmeor beach in St Ives, Perranporth, Fistral beach in Newquay, Par, Porthtowan and Gwithian.

Andy Brelsford from Volunteer Cornwall said: “With thousands of visitors expected in Cornwall for half term and local children on holiday we want to ensure that our beaches are looking their very best.
“We want as many people as possible to join the litter picks and would ask everyone to help us spread the message on social media by using #doourbit.
“The events of the past few weeks have shown the amazing strength of community spirit in Cornwall and we want to mobilise this people power to pick up litter on beaches and show that we are open for business."
