Vote against Tesco store proposals
A Looe resident has voted in favour of rejecting an amended proposal to build a Tesco store in the town.
On Tuesday evening councillors gathered to discuss the bid by Mercian Developments to build a Tesco and a motion was carried by four votes to one in favour of rejecting the plans.
Several residents attended the meeting on Tuesday to have their say.
Looe resident Tim Deakin said: "It was clear that there was an overwhelming majority in favour of rejection for various reasons. If there was anyone attending who was against rejection then they certainly did not make themselves heard."

The original proposal was due to go before Cornwall Council's strategic planning committee in December but the item was postponed so more information could be provided.
The application to build a store off Barbican Road in East Looe has been amended to include more detailed plans for a petrol station, car wash and jetwash.
Changes have also been made to the affordable housing layout on the northern boundary of the site.
Mr Deakin said: "Let's not get carried away. The vote yesterday was only for a recommendation to Cornwall Council. The big battles are still ahead of us."
A report published in November, commissioned by Cornwall Council, suggested that some businesses in the town could face losing up to 63 per cent of their annual turnover if the store is built.
It states: "Overall, we consider that the trading effects of the proposed Tesco store will have a clear adverse impact upon financial turnover in Looe town centre."
The report, produced by GVA Grimley, suggests an alternative site at Polean, opposite the Millpool car park, should be considered.
The report said: "It is much better connected to Looe town centre than the Barbican Road site and it can be observed that users of the Millpool car park (adjacent to the site) are visitors to the town centre."
It concluded: "It would appear that, on the basis of the information available to us at this time, there is potential for the Polean site to provide a suitable and viable alternative."
