A BEAUTY product retailer in Truro has been encouraging electors to vote for prospective MPs who support animal welfare.

Lush Cosmetics has launched its own national election campaign by supporting lobbying group Protecting Animals in Democracy's (PAD) Vote For Animals appeal.

Staff from the Pydar Street store were joined by members of Cornwall's Saving Animals from Exploitation (Safe) group to encourage people to find out where candidates stand on fox-hunting and animal rights.

Deborah Rylatt, from Safe, said: "We are a peaceful and educational organisation and we had a fantastic response from shoppers in Truro.

"People wanted to find out more and to do their bit to help animals.

"The Lush team has been fantastic giving its time to help us and support the cause."

PAD plans to make public the names of those candidates who want to see a return to foxhunting, support intensive factory farming or animal experiments and highlight candidates who intend to stamp these out.

PAD's website www.vote4animals.org.uk allows the public to poll their candidates and find out where they stand on animal issues.

“The only thing that Lush doesn't tell you is that by giving money to Hunt Sabs they are also giving money to people who have fire bombed places, have caused violence in the Countryside, frighten and shout abuse at children, pay people to go out wearing hoods and masks, yes Lush a very worthy cause, I dont think, I trst you are proud of yourselves.”
