Fifteen Cornwall is currently offering people the chance to enjoy a special ‘Wild Cornwall’ three-course lunch menu that runs Monday to Friday until 18th December.

The menu features all kinds of wild local game, including venison, rabbit, pigeon, duck, pheasant and partridge; it’s the perfect opportunity to try some fantastic traditional meats.

To celebrate such an inspiring menu, we have been running a photography competition - allowing you the chance to show what ‘Wild Cornwall’ means to you.

Two of the region’s finest photographers, Simon Burt and David Griffen have been judging, and they have now selected six finalists.

Simon Burt said: “With such a fantastic response, short-listing has been a tough call. The standard of entries has been impressive. There are some great amateur photographers in the county. We were really looking for imagery that summed up the feel of Cornwall at this time of year be it crashing storms, wild game or autumnal hedgerow treats.”

David Griffen adds: “The six finalists were chosen on the merit of their representation of ‘Wild Cornwall’ and their sense of place. We were also looking for images that displayed technical ability - such as an understanding of composition or exposure. The shortlist are all striking images, any of which would look impressive as a large format print in the restaurant.”

The six finalists are:

Hannah Atkinson - As Wild As It Gets, St Agnes Beacon:

Aiden Zralka - Cornish Flight, The Eden Project:

Jane Parren - Trevone Beach to Trevose Head:

Ross Curtis - Mussels, Padstow:

Mark Stokes - Storm at Longships Lighthouse, Land’s End:

Justin Nugent - Tropical Wave, Welcombe Mouth:

The winning photographer will be treated to dinner for two at Fifteen Cornwall and their photo will take pride of place in the restaurant.

Responsibility for judging the winning image now falls to you. Please vote using the attached poll.

“Its good practice to make sure images are technically good when first shooting them. This then eliminates any need to use photoshop. In reality this isnt always the case and some images from time to time will need some level of post- processing i.e. level corrections, sharpening, white balance, etc There is a fine line between what is, and isnt, a manipulated image and I believe Mark Stokes image as much as I like it, should be categorized as a photo-manipulation. I also disagree with Beckys comment, there are four images above that convey movement including my own. Thanks to everyone who has voted for me.

“Isn't photography about being in the right place, pressing the shutter at the right time, and having the skill to compose an image within that very moment? Don't get me wrong, I embrace after-image effects and digital photo editing, they are useful tools for any serious photographer, amateur or professional. But making it that obvious is a bit daft. I think 'Cornish Flight' is a lovely example of the photographer's eye actually capturing a fraction of a moment for real.”

“I was also really annoyed to hear the comments about photoshopping. I must admit those waves do look identical but I disagree with Becky Osundes comment that the others look too still! Apart from a bit of sharpening my photo came straight out of the camera and hopefully conveys to the onlooker what a willd night it was when i took that photo.”

“I was really annoyed to read what I thought were snide comments about photoshopping - until I took a closer look, the two waves quite clearly are identical! I don't think altering images to this degree should be a representation of wilderness or nature - its the opposite.”

“I just have to say Justin Nugent's picture catches my interest more since it conveys movement- the others are too still...too cliche of photography. I look at Nugent's picture and, other than the picturesque capture of the precious and rare light on the edge of the waves, I immediately have the urge to re-create, in my mind, its other dimensions; the sound of softly crashing waves, the smell of cool air and bursts of cold wind on one's face, the sense of a false protection by the thick bubbling clouds speeding overhead...e.t.c I just love it!”
