COASTGUARDS have warned people to check high water times before going out walking during spring tides.

It comes after a family of six was stranded on cliffs at Polkerris, near St Austell, last night.

A lifeboat, coastguard team and helicopter went to the rescue and nobody was injured.

"During the summer, beach lifeguards will have information about tide times, but if in doubt just ring the coastguards - we're always happy to give safety advice," a spokesman said.
