ARCHER Warren Potier, from Stratton is a national champion (Hunting Tackle Class) for the second year running.

The competition was held at Arley Hall in Cheshire and Warren beat 51 other archers to retain his title.

Warren said: "I was astounded to win it again this year, especially as at the end of the first day I was in second place, 38 points behind the leader.

"Luckily I had an extremely good second day and ended up winning by 24 points overall."

Warren is the chairman of the Bowmen of Bude, a field archery club with a practice ground in Stratton.

"The skill of field archery is all about being able to judge distances over different types of terrain," said Warren, "but it is great fun and it is a sport that the whole family can take part in together."
