Weather warning issued as heavy rain and high winds forecast for Cornwall
Heavy rain and high winds are forecast for Cornwall for the end of this week prompting the Met Office to issue a severe weather warning for the county.
A yellow-graded weather warning, the lowest of its kind, is in place for the Duchy from 6am on Thursday until 6am on Friday.
A chief forecaster at the Met Office said the South West was in for wet and windy weather this week and predicted wind speeds of up to 60mph.
He said: “An active frontal system will move in from the West. 20 to 40mm of rain seems likely with up to 60mm possible. This will be accompanied by strong winds with gusts up to 50 to 60mph. This is likely to bring down leaves which may lead to blocked drains.
