Weather watch for Pirates
THE Cornish Pirates and Rotherham Titans will try again to beat the big freeze this weekend with their Championship clash at Clifton Lane rearranged for Saturday (2pm).
A pitch inspection 24 hours ahead of last weekend's scheduled game deemed the playing surface unfit, despite the Yorkshire club borrowing covers to protect it, as a week of sub-zero temperatures refused to relent.
With similar weather forecast for the north of England again this week both clubs face the possibility of another postponement which could cause a fixture headache. The RFU have decreed that all regular season games must be completed by February 25.
The Pirates still have home matches to play against Bristol and Moseley and will not relish the possibility of travelling to Rotherham for a midweek game should Saturday's clash fall foul of the weather.
In the meantime it is full steam ahead for the Pirates who returned to training on Tuesday.
