A NEW website shows the hard work going on to clear up some of Redruth's historic locations.

The Eco-Clean site shows the progress being made at Redruth Brewery Leats, where members of the community have been busy cleaning and tidying. The site also highlights areas such as the Ope Way, beside Wilkinson's, which have been transformed by volunteers' efforts.

The man behind the Brewery Leats project is Cornwall councillor Graeme Hicks, who said: "The website will allow us to publicise all the good work that we are doing and will also provide a way for people to contact us if they want to get involved.

"It's a growing project, a partnership involving businesses, the youth club, the school, volunteers and ordinary people, that shows that if we all work together we can improve our environment."

The website, http://redruthbreweryleats.co.uk was designed free of charge by Jane Hooper, of Hooper Graphics.

She said: "I'm a member of the chamber of commerce and I took part in the Redruth Area Action Plan project (Raap). One of the things that Raap demonstrated is that you can't rely on Government to do everything for you.

"I was really impressed by what Graeme and his team have achieved, it's such a good community project.

"It's a good example of how people can get together to improve their environment.

"I thought 'what can I do to help?' Some businesses can donate raffle prizes, for example.

"I can't do that but I was able to set up this website. It's my way of giving something back to the community."
