Whizz kids rewarded for success on work experience
Some of the brightest young minds from across Cornwall have been recognised in a special ceremony after impressing staff during placements at some of the South West's most prestigious businesses and organisations.
Some 18 students, all of whom want to pursue scientific, technological, engineering or mathematical careers, were recognised at a special event at New County Hall in Truro, after winning much sought-after placements with the Nuffield Foundation.
The charitable trust funds research placements for young people, setting up summer placements for students with organisations such as mineral company Imerys and Royal Cornwall Hospital.
Rachel Delourme, sustainability co-ordinator for Cornwall Learning, who worked with the Nuffield Foundation to select students, said each was placed with a mentor while on the scheme.
