Wild Futures, the Cornwall based primate welfare charity, has announced dates for its popular haunted sleepovers at Bodmin Jail

Following the success of the events last year, the sleepovers will take place once again on February 8 and March 8. On each night, 25 daring individuals will spend the night in Bodmin Jail, one of the most notoriously haunted venues in the UK.

The spine-tingling challenge will not only test the nerves of those brave enough to sign up, but more importantly will raise vital funds for Wild Futures.

Wild Futures' flagship project is The Monkey Sanctuary in Cornwall, a rescue and rehabilitation centre for ex-pet monkeys. The sanctuary has an international reputation for the quality of care and enclosure design and is the first and only accredited sanctuary in Europe.

Bodmin Jail was built in 1779 and over the course of 150 operational years, saw over 50 public hangings. Led by experienced paranormalist Mark Rablin, the night's spooky activities will begin at 11pm on each night and run through to 7am the following morning.

Participants will receive a tour of the jail upon arrival with the lights on, after which all lights will be extinguished and the paranormal activities will begin. Highlights of the night include an 'Unlucky Lottery', the loser of which will be sentenced to spend 20 minutes in one of the basement cells alone.

Katie Brydges, Events and Community Fundraiser at Wild Futures states: "This event was extremely popular last year with 50 participants who took part and raised nearly £4,000.

"Each Haunted Sleepover event certainly tests the nerves of participants with a range of spooky activities and storytelling throughout the night.

"Due to the amount of interest we received last year, we would urge anyone who is interested this time round to sign up quickly.

"We have been greatly impacted by the dreadful weather and storms of recent months and so the funds raised from the Haunted Sleepovers are vital to ensure that our rescue and rehabilitation work at our Sanctuary can continue."
