A ST COLUMB woman with a learning disability now has another window on the world thanks to her new computer skills.

Cathy Pascoe, 53, had been using a borrowed touch-screen laptop computer to design her own Christmas cards, do online shopping and keep in touch with her family via Skype.

But earlier this month she won her own laptop and printer in a competition run by her support charity, Brandon Trust's Special Interest Group for Assistive Technology.

Cathy received her award during a special presentation at the trust's regional headquarters in Bodmin.

A spokesman for the trust, which supports people with learning difficulties, said: "She loves to get out and about and, as she has already demonstrated, her new laptop skills are allowing her to live an even more independent life."
