Woman pedestrian hurt in hit-and-run

A woman was injured when she was said to have been hit by a car and thrown over a barrier in Plymouth. Police say they are searching for a red car in connection with the incident, on Mutley Plain at 3.40pm yesterday. The woman was crossing Houndiscombe Road near Domino's Pizza when the incident happened. The injured woman complained of hip and stomach pains and was taken to Derriford Hospital. Her injuries were not thought to be life threatening. A police spokesman said: "The woman was hit by a red car while she was crossing the road but the car did not stop at the scene."
