Roads in St Buryan, Goldsithney and Hayle were also affected while the A30 between Canonstown and St Erth experienced surface water flooding.

Flooding incidents were also reported at Heamoor and Newlyn.

A flood warning is still in place for the River Hayle from Relubbus to St Erth and Hayle Causeway.

The Environment Agency has recommended moving family members, pets and valuables to a safe place; upstairs if possible, away from potential flood waters should the river burst its banks.

Lesser flood alerts have also been placed on Land's End, Helston, Crowlas, St Ives and Hayle in west Cornwall.
