Wood focus of police search
POLICE are continuing their search for a vulnerable Newquay man at a woodland beauty spot after his abandoned car was found nearby.
Peter Godber's silver Vauxhall Corsa was discovered at Idless Woods in Truro last Friday after he was reported missing by his partner the day before.
His disappearance initially sparked a widescale search around Newquay before the discovery of his car shifted the police's focus to countryside to the north of Truro.
The search for Mr Godber, who has been described by police as high risk, saw four police support teams, Cornwall Search and Rescue Team (CSRT), a police helicopter and specially trained dogs scouring the undergrowth.

On Friday CSRT posted on Facebook: "CSRT spent a difficult seven hours today searching thick woodland for a missing person, three dogs from Search and Rescue Dog Association were involved along with approx 15 team members, several police personnel and the police helicopter.
"The misper (missing person) is still outstanding at this time, the search has been suspended and will resume in the morning."
The search continued over the weekend and this week, with police officers asking farmers in the area to search their outbuildings and to be vigilant.
Mr Godber is described as very slim, around 5ft 10in tall, with white hair. He was last seen wearing jeans and a black and white checked shirt.
Police notes posted in the area said: "It is believed this male has limited mobility and may well still be in the vicinity."
Truro sergeant Miles Topham, who was one of the officers to search the woods on Sunday, said the "incredibly dense" area was difficult to search.
The detective in the case, sergeant Daniel Massey, said: "The agreed search involves rural land which is exceptionally hard to search.
"It is a big area and the search will continue for at least the next few days.
"He could have done one of a hundred different things, which is why we are keeping an open mind."
He said Mr Godber's partner and the officers in the case are grateful for any information from members of the public.
