Work to fix damaged sewer begins early
South West Water has started urgent repairs to a collapsed sewer in Exeter early after Devon County Council helped to bring the start date forward. Contractor May Gurney was preparing to begin work on the damaged sewer in Holloway Street in the city. However, work was put on hold as the site is adjacent to an ancient masonry arch structure lying deep under the highway. The council's bridge engineers stepped in to liaise with English Heritage to fast-track the required consent. Work began on the sewer on Thursday.
