World's largest sloop put to the test after refit
THE world's largest sloop has been put through her paces after a major remodelling project.
The 77.6 metre (257ft) sailing yacht M5 (Mirabella V) underwent the trial as part of the work at Pendennis Shipyard.
The yacht, with a mast reaching 88.5 metres (290ft), hit speeds of 17.7 knots in 18-23 knot wind.
Modifications included replacing main engines, generators, switchboards and the sewage treatment plant, along with an upgrade of the air conditioning system, electrics and entertainment system.
