Wraps come off plans for new Callington play space
A MASTER PLAN for the £120,000 redevelopment of a Callington play area has been unveiled.
Created by landscape architect Mike Westley, the plan acts as a vision on how the Saltash Road facility could look in three years' time using comments from residents during a year-long consultation.

The town council hopes to include equipment which retains the town's strong heritage links to mining.
The first goal is to provide new equipment for children as previous facilities had to be removed on safety grounds.
Town clerk Vernon Anderson said: "The next step is to start groundwork in April. We will then go out to tender for the equipment. We are hoping to deliver some changes to the park. We are also keen to introduce multi-play facilities that reflect the town's mining heritage. You can see Kit Hill quite clearly from the park so want to focus on that. Ideas include chimneys and engine houses." A total of £40,000 has been put towards the three-year project from Cornwall Council's Playfinder grant scheme. The park will include many natural features such as willow dens, boulders and logs, alongside a village green area for community events, a skateboard park, green space and separate areas for young children.
Last year the town council redeveloped a recreation ground on Launceston Road installing new fitness equipment for members of the older generation. Its success has inspired the council to concentrate its efforts on improving the Saltash Road facility.
Mr Anderson added: "Once we get key equipment in for the over eights, we will look for other grant funding to deliver other aspects including facilities for tiny tots and fitness equipment, it will be mixed use for all ages.
"We are concentrating on Saltash Road at the moment. Over the past year everyone has been happy with the improvements at Launceston Road but feeling this end of the town has been neglected. It is all subject to funding and this takes a long time."
