THE PHRASE "where there's muck, there's money" has certainly been on Helston and St Keverne YFC members' minds recently.

Over the last couple of Thursdays they have been bagging up rotten dung ready to sell this weekend to raise funds for Ella's Memory, the club's chosen charity for the year, which aims to help parents of stillborn babies.

This weekend members will be based in the Sithney Common Hill lay-by from about 10am, selling the bags for £2 each.

On Saturday night the members travelled to Trethorne leisure centre, Launceston, to compete at pool, jazz dancing, bowling and a speaking round. The Just A Minute speaking team – Alan Carter, Geoffrey Williams, Hayden Jenkin and Diana Williams – came first, so will compete again at next week's YFC South West area weekend in Newquay. Helston came second in the pool and jazz dancing competitions.

Next week the members will meet at Trewennack Chapel at 7.30pm for a talk from Martyn Selley who, with his wife Emmillie, started the Ella's Memory charity last year.

The club can be contacted on 07891 456261 or 07814 275246.
