Third annual Falmouth Spring Festival shaping up
A CIDER and folk fair and a party in the park are two of the new additions to the third Falmouth Spring Festival.
They are part of a packed programme that also includes litter-picks and garden makeovers, a half-marathon and a chance to explore the town's natural assets.
The event is running from March 14 to 24 and is spearheaded by the town's Business Improvement District (BID), with sponsorship from the National Maritime Museum Cornwall.
BID manager Richard Wilcox said: "The expansion of Falmouth Spring Festival to include several new activities this year further demonstrates the important role played in the town by the BID and town management resources."

The cider and folk event will be on the final two days at Events Square and feature music, 20 different ciders, arts and craft stalls and a hog roast.
Mike Rangecroft from Falmouth Festivals said: "We think this will complement the other activities during the week, and bring alive our end of the town.
"It has been an ambition of Falmouth Festivals to stage a folk festival and, combining with the current popularity of cider, is a winning recipe to kick the season off."
The party in the park will be on the last day of the festival and will officially celebrate the completion of the new play area.
It will run from noon until 4pm with a whole host of activities, including a cake stall, and the Kimberley Park Association would like people to donate a cake to sell to raise funds for an art project.
Anyone who can provide a cake is asked to e-mail kimparkfal@gmail.com
Other planned events include this year's Run Falmouth, a half-marathon raising funds for Cornwall Hospice Care.
Last year more than £16,000 was raised, and the 2013 race takes place on March 17. Register at www.cornish-hospices.co.uk
