First brick laid in affordable homes scheme at Carbis Bay
The second phase of a multi-million pound housing development in Cornwall has reached an important milestone.
The first brick was laid on Friday for the £4.7 million scheme at Carbis Bay which will see 44 affordable houses come to the market.
The modern timber-framed homes at Polmennor Drive will consist of 32 rental homes and 12 available for shared ownership, helping those people who cannot afford to buy a home of their own outright to take a step on the property ladder.
"Coming together on site for our second phase development was very much a day of celebration for everyone who has played a part in the scheme so far," said Andy Moore, chief executive of Penwith Housing Association, part of Devon & Cornwall Housing. "Work has started on site and I am looking forward to seeing this new scheme complete and ready for residents to move in next summer."
