Who buys here?
New research reveals the age and occupation of top-end property buyers in the South West. Strutt and Parker in Exeter has collated ages and professions of their 2012 premium property purchasers in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and West Dorset. The majority are 40 and over with 32% aged 40-49, 25% aged 50-59 and 31% over 60. Just 12% were under 40.
When it came to occupation, most (33%) made their money in finance, 25% came from an agricultural background, 25% were independently wealthy and 8% were entrepreneurs. James Baker of Strutt and Parker, says 97% of buyers came from the UK, mostly London and The Home Counties.
