Top chef leaves new restaurant before opening
A celebrated chef has left a new restaurant in Cornwall just days before the launch.
According to bosses at the Rose Vale Hotel, near St Agnes, Kevin Viner left just over a week ago. The new eaterie, which was to be named Viner at the Rose, will open tomorrow as planned under the new Valley Restaurant banner.
Chef Anthony Theobald takes Mr Viner's place in the kitchen. Mr Theobald has previously worked at Celtic Manor, at Newport, Gwent, and the St Moritz Hotel, at Rock.
James Evans, who owns Rose in Vale said: "We're disappointed that it didn't work out with Kevin. However, we've had a rosetted restaurant for the past seven years and won the Cornwall Catering Excellence Award.

"It is important that we move forward with our vision to create one of Cornwall's best fine dining restaurants at the Valley Restaurant at the Rose in Vale and we're confident that we can achieve that with our head chef, Anthony Theobald."
Mr Viner became Cornwall's first Michelin-starred chef.
In November he left Viners Restaurant and Bar at Summercourt after the landlord took possession of the building.
