Author's new book on historic buildings

WERRINGTON-based author Joan Rendell latest book looks at Cornwall's historic buildings.

Born and brought up in the county, her family has lived in Cornwall since the Civil War.

A professional author and journalist, she has written 30 books on various subjects, many of them on local history including Cornwall Strange But True.

The county is rich with interesting old buildings which have survived the centuries, each with its own interesting history, from the reconstruction of a Bronze Age dwelling to structures that assisted seafarers around notoriously dangerous coasts.

In her book, Joan covers everything from medieval cottages to 17th-century almshouses, Tudor pubs to Georgian townhouses, as well as shops, post offices, places of worship and lock-ups.

Cornwall's Historic Buildings features structures which capture national and local changes in architectural styles and construction techniques, while also serving as a useful guide for those wishing to explore and learn more about Cornwall's history.
