Winter bug closes five wards

Visiting restrictions remain in place at all three hospitals - Royal Cornwall, West Cornwall and St Michael's - to only those patients who are critically ill. A hospital spokesperson thanked the public saying it had responded well to the call not to visit the hospital unless absolutely necessary.
The vast majority of planned surgery is still going ahead as scheduled and outpatient clinics are running as normal. Patients will be contacted by hospital staff if there is any change their appointment.
Patients, or those visiting someone who is critically ill, who have been unwell with sickness and diarrhoea themselves should stay away from hospital for at least 48 hours after symptoms have passed.
