DUCHY College is offering a new course in gamekeeping and wildlife management from September.

The BTEC Diploma Level 2 will show students how to maintain and improve game populations and habitats.

They will get the opportunity to assist in game shooting activities, such as preparing for the day, beating and picking up and will be expected to take on a one day work placement, plus a two-week block visit to a sporting estate.

Pete Walters, course manager, said: "I am pleased that Duchy College is now able to offer this course. The gamekeeper is responsible for the protection of game and their habitat and wildlife management, it is therefore important that we provide excellent training for future gamekeepers."
