Fire crews tackle indoor market blaze
UPDATE 4.30pm:
ARSON has not been ruled out as the cause of this morning’s blaze at Hayle’s indoor market.
-

The police returned to the shopping arcade to investigate after the fire investigation team could not count out a deliberate ignition.
Firefighters from across West Cornwall were called to the scene after the alarm was raised at 8.05am.
In total 30 sets of breathing apparatus were used by 70 members of seven crews as they fought to control the situation.
An aerial ladder and operational support vehicle were present as conditions threatened to develop.
The fire was declared under control by 1.45pm after nearly six hours work in which the teams battled with difficult conditions resulting from the smoke trapped inside the building.
Fans are now being used to clear smoke from the premises.
No-one was injured in the fire.

“Which council Gary? Hayle Town Council has tried to get a fire station for years, but was always turned down by Cornwall County Council....the new Cornwall Council do not seem inclined to provide one either.......”

“Hayle needs a fire station.”

“Hayle let itself be conned into not having a fire station and instead the council conned the people into believing that a "Fire Fee Zone" (now defunct) would be the answer.
If the people of Hayle had had more about them then they would have realised that bland statements and policy documents never stopped any fire and they would have DEMANDED a fire station.
How many lives have to be lost before something is done.”
