Fire crews warn of bonfire 'callouts'
Cornish firefighters are appealing to the public to alert them before lighting a bonfire following a spate of false alarms. The fire service said it had responded to around 20 "unnecessary callouts" to bonfires since Monday. A spokesman said: "If we have been made aware in advance that controlled burning or a bonfire is taking place in a certain location, we will not send out appliances unnecessarily to the scene – potentially taking resources away from an emergency."
