“Lots of messages in other discussions, but not a single nationalist willing to commit to speculating how well the alleged "Party of Cornwall" will do in the local elections.
Don't seem to have much faith in their own kind do they?
I'm predicting Tamsin Williams, the defector to MK will lose her seat, and they will not gain any more.
Thinking about it though, it's probably good for MK that the nationalists here say nothing, as no party would want to be associated with some of the unpleasant personalities who leave messages here using nationalism as a front for their own prejudices.”

“In local elections as you know B_G people vote for the best person they think will represent them, the person who works hard all year around, not just in the run up to an election, Nationalist or whatever. If you do not live on a particular ward, it can only be like you B_G only guess work, now a general election that is a different thing. Anyway knowing the nats on here they wouldn't dare take a stab in the dark and guess, in case they get egg on their face.”

“Ah, But...
50,000 people signed a petition...
M.K. don't get the recognition and finance they deserve.
Plus...
They declare their Cornishness with pride
Whilst oblivious to our genocide
That England imposes
With smiles and Red Roses
Where the innocents, so gullibly, reside.
People are gullible?”

“I recon the "nationalist" vote will increase.
MK will hold its own, and probably gain another 2 to 3 seats.
The "nationalist" independents, will retain their seats, and probably gain a few more as well.
Both the Tories and Lib Dems will try to put on a "nationalist" face, to try to pinch the "nationalist" vote, but I do not believe that will help them in any way.
Labour and UKip, well there always have to be the "also rans".
However, a week is a long time in politics, anything could happen between now and May, I could even be underestimating the "nationalist" vote.
Oh, and for the record, I have a life, I have work to do, a family to be with, and friends to see, I do not sit in front of my computer screen waiting to immediately answer any question someone asks.”

“My prediction gave too much credence to Mebyon kernow, and underestimated the damage done to their cause by the likes of "TheTruronian," "ThomasFammank" and "Angof".
MK remain in the wilderness, a loss of two seats from a very low start.
Time to reassess their priorities”

“I'll have a go ! Interesting local election results in Kernow, England and Wales. MK will undoubtedly be disappointed. But on the budget they have and the media focus on Westminster based parties they will always face an up hill struggle. That said, the party certainly needs to re-evaluate where it is positioned in the political narrative. I remain convinced however that the underlying pull for more Cornish autonomy, cultural recognition and sporting identity is not truly represented by MK polling figures. Opinion polls (although admittedly infrequent) repeatedly clearly demonstrate a clear disconnect and deficit between MK performance and Cornish aspirations. Interestingly, a quick analysis of the immediate local election results in Kernow highlights a growing apathy to all the mainstream parties. Infact, an independent, MK, Green, UKIP coalition would form the largest block if it were to be cobbled together. So, for MK, a real review of their policies to mainstream and make them the party for Kernow coupled with a comprehensive drive to secure more funding is absolutely required if they are to make tangible ground going forward. Next General Election ? Well if I am able to donate a couple of million to fund an MK campaign (and i'm working on it !)then we could see quite a change ! In the interim, well done to all those elected this week, and please be sure to put Kernow's best interests first. Brgds.”

“Polgooth, your stance is reasonable, but omits one salient fact, the people of Cornwall do not want what MK is seen to offer.
Mk are the most fervent pro-EU party in Cornwall, mainly due to them wanting to have their ideas funded from Brussels. The people of Cornwall are not pro-EU.
That is why UKIP gained 6 seats, while MK lost two.
MK are now the sixth supported party in Cornwall where it used to be the forth, Independents, Tory, Lib Dem, Labour, UKIP all were valued more than MK.
You may claim this is due to a lack of funding, but if that were true, how come so many Independents won seats?
The truth of the matter is, as we see here week in and week out, MK is tarred by the same brush as the Cornish nationalist extremists, those unpleasant people who think that insulting anyone with a different view is the way to gain credence.
It is also saddled with being aligned with daft ideas such as those of the Stannary bunch, the Celtic "league", that fellow with his "Cornish Genocide" website, the whole "Druid" culture thing, and as I have said, the rantings of Angof, ThomasFlammank, The Truronian, and CarbonBoot/TeamKernow/CalmerWaters in all his guises.
MK are hobbled by their own supporters, and the mediating influence of yourself, and people like Paddy Trembath, does not dislodge all the muck these others throw.
Couple that with MK's hard left/Green/Pro-Europe/Tax and spend policies, and it's no wonder that at this election, which was all about protesting against the major parties, MK went backwards rather than forwards.
I offer these thoughts for your consideration.”

“The ironic thing is MK make UKIP look like a well-oiled political machine, UKIP offer the one thing "NO" other party offers. They listen to what the people want. They offer to stop the abuse of our services by immigrants and give us a right to decide who we want here and the ability to remove those who endanger people via warped Human rights legislation.
If MK started to listen outside the fanatical nationalist movement that offers them the small support they have you never know. But as it stands MK are batting just above the expected level whereas unless we get some serious policy changes in the very near future I can only see UKIP's support growing now they are main stream.”

“Gurnard head has been conspicuous by his/her absence since the MK got routed.
What happened to his call to arms?
To quote:
"If you are realy serious about promoting Kernows best interests its now time to get real... become very serious ... and take a long hard look at what your expectations are and where you think we should all be heading (and I dont mean down to the pub) Cornwall Council elections are looming... there are some traitors at Lys Kernow who need to feel the full wrath of Cornish people via the ballot box, it is in your collective power to ensure that these donkeys are fired higher than a kite."
Didn't happen.”

“If I am so wrong on the causes of the problems which blight MK, how come my forecast for their results was so near the mark?
Here's what I predicted;
Is any of the Nationalist persuasion brave enough to state how well they think MK will do at the next election, I think not. Seeing as Gurnard Head has made this call to arms, will the Cornish respond?
Here's my prediction;
5 county council seats, losing one.
4.2% of the popular vote."
What did they get?
4 county council seats.
4.8% of the popular vote.
This in a year when the minor parties were to make major gains, MK slipped back.
Ah well, I've offered them my advice and thoughts, if they choose to carry on pretending their way is working, on their heads be it.
9421 votes: 2005 county council elections
8919 votes: 2007 district councils elections
7290 votes: 2009 unitary council elections
6824 votes: 2013 unitary council elections.”
