“And, unlike the planning officers, we have acted with integrity. Over the past few years proposals (all evidence based of course) have been made for housing figures of 68,000 -54,000 - 49,000 - 48,500 and then 45,400 have come from the planning officers. All of the proposals backed with irrefutable evidence (though I can't understand how the same evidence leads to such wildly different conclusions) and all of them backed by Mark Kaczmarek, in fear of having to stand up to our lords and masters in London. All of this time we have argued for what is best for Cornwall. For housing for local needs rather than developers' greed. And we have argued for affordable social rental homes with affordable being given its natural dictionary meaning rather than convoluted formulae provided by Westminster to disguise how unaffordable the rent really is.

We are the only party in Cornwall that has a bespoke planning and housing policy designed specifically to put Cornish people first.

For all of these reasons I am proud to be a member of Mebyon Kernow. I am also proud because I know that for us the fight won't end on May 2nd. For us the fight will go on through the final public consultation and then beyond. We will campaign tirelessly for homes for local need and for autonomy for Cornwall to be able to make its own decisions rather than have to submit to policies imposed on us from the Home Counties.”

“So you are Stephen Richardson, a MK candidate, should you not declare this? If you are not Stephen Richardson, does he know you are copying his blog onto here?

“BY restricting supply you will force up prices.
There will not be 42000 houses for local affordable housing....there will just be fewer houses ,freemarket and affordable, on the market, and because affordable homes are provided by housing developers being required to provide a percentage of an estate as affordable, there will be LESS affordable housing.

Result is freemarket homes becoming even more unaffordable for locals and far fewer affordable homes.

The fact is the council have no money to build homes ....it is only the private developers who can provide this....any one saying otherwise is misinformed or plain lying.

So if you want the cost of housing to spiral up far higher than it already has vote MK.

Bear in mind that the higher number of 68000 equates to 3400 per annum{over the 20 yrs} over a county that is notoriously rural undeveloped and has already significant brownfield sites in the form of mining spoil.

If we accept the waiting list figure as 20 odd thousand you can see that it will be 10 years before that problem is cleared assuming the ridiculous that no new people join the list and magically the millions needed to build those houses suddenly appears in the council bank account.

Hopefully this proposal will be overturned by wiser heads in London as plainly our local jumped up parish councillors are failing the youth especially.”

“What needs doing in our planning legislation is
1 encourage greter redevelopment of in town derelict facilities
2 cretion of new villages and fringe development of already exsiting villages
3 creation of new towns in highly undeveloped parts of the county which we have in abundance.
4 far higher standards in design asthetics.

cutting numbers is simply playing to the crowd and is the recipe for decline.”

“Less of any valuable resource ie building land also disadvantage the housing associations ability to compete for buying land as the cost will now sky rocket.

    Well done Mk.”
