“They tell a story which is coldly calculated to foster a fear of the nasty Nats getting their wicked way.But exactly how do they tell their story differently?Well - when we have hope for the future London seeks to glory in the past.Or if we endeavour to build an honest and open world for our children, London seeks to protect and shield its shady elder statesmen. And when we venture to build a just society London insists on defending its imperial ethos. But London is more and more under siege.MPs in Westminster are staring full square down the barrel of Scottish independence. In just two years' time we will be attending our conference having witnessed the people of Scotland say YES to self-determination and NO to Unionist ideology. This will be a breath-taking step forward for everyone in Britain, brought about by the leadership demonstrated by the SNP. Leadership which has been built with inclusivity acting as the mortar binding the will of the Scottish people together. In Wales people like Leanne Wood and Jonathan Edwards are showing how it is possible to reject the greed of Thatcherism in order to build an inclusive society. They are showing that self-belief in an inclusive Welsh nation is crucial if Wales is to develop a blossoming, yet sustainable, economy. And we, here in Cornwall, are part of that international movement towards national self-determination. Our own inclusivity wears away at the lies told by those who preach fear and who would tout thinly veiled threats. Please bear with me for a minute or two while I remind you of one of Aesop's fables. The Wind and the Sun were disputing which was the stronger. Suddenly they saw a traveller coming down the road, and the Sun said: "I see a way to decide our dispute. Whichever of us can cause that traveller to take off his cloak shall be regarded as the stronger." The Sun retired behind a cloud, and the Wind began to blow as hard as it could upon the traveller. But the harder he blew the more closely did the traveller wrap his cloak round him, till at last the Wind had to give up in despair. Then the Sun came out and shone in all his glory upon the traveller. Soon the traveller found it far too hot to walk with his cloak on and had to take it off.The moral that Aesop wanted to convey was that kindness effects change better than severity. And we need to behave like the Sun and allow Westminster politicians to rant like the wind.Where they say 'Us and Them' we should say 'We and Us'.When they say Cornwall is too small. We'll just smile and reply "Don't you know that small is beautiful!"And when they say that the Cornish people are too poor and stupid to run their own country, we'll answer "Hold on - wasn't it you that got us into this mess in the first place?"If MK candidates are to win unitary seats across the whole length of Cornwall next May then we need to offer hope where London hawks fear.It is our duty to inspire all the people of Cornwall. To say that none of us is as good as all of us.We have to create a vision where people like you and me, the passenger on the Bodmin bus, the schoolgirl in the Camborne classroom, the boy playing football in Callington, the woman working in the Truro office and the man walking his dog in Penwith – where all of us can make a difference by working together.Working together for a Cornwall that is run for the benefit of the people who live here.Run by people who live, study and work here and who know what the real challenges are and how best to meet them.We need people that don't care just about building their CV, or receiving the odd OBE from the palace, but people who truly care about the less fortunate in our society.”
“People like the late David Penhaligon, who recognised that an economy isn't simply based on tourism, ice cream and deckchairs. And people like Dick Cole, Andy Long and all our other councillors and volunteers who work tirelessly for Cornwall and all of her folk.I want to finish now and I want to ask you all to be the Sun and let the Westminster politicians be the Wind.Enjoy the party being held in Cornwall, in the Horn of Plenty. And help the Party of Cornwall forge a future that holds an invitation for everyone. Meur ras.”

“Well said Councillor. You are more than welcome to live in Kernow!Kernow bys vyken!”

“OH DEAR!DAVID PENHALIGON WAS, ARGUABLY, THE GREATEST CORNISH POLITICIAN EVER. HOWEVER, HE WAS A LIBERAL, HE WAS PRISIDENT OF THE NATIONAL PARTY IN 1985/6. HE WAS NOT A PART OF MEBYON KERNOW. HIS TRAGIC DEATH WAS A GREAT LOSS.http://tinyurl.com/crxbp2g”

“MR PENHALIGON MAY INDEED HAVE BRIEFLY BELONGED TO MK, BUT HIS PARLIAMENTARY CAREER WAS AS A LIBERAL”

“MR PENHALIGON MAY WELL HAVE BRIEFLY BEEN A MEMBER OF MK, BUT HIS PARLIAMENTARY CAREER WAS AS A LIBERAL.”

“Mixed messages, but a clear token, who seems obsessed with nationality, so no surprise that TK is promoting him”

“Quite correct Dyhanow. I knew David and he was a member of MK even though he was a Liberal until the time MK registered as a political party as opposed to an organisation set up to promote Cornwall.David's life time ambition was to see a self governing Kernow which happens to be my hope. We are well able to run our own affairs as I am sure you will agree.Kernow bys vyken!”

“David Penhaligon was a LIBERAL... that is a proper LIBERAL... not the party that exists today which is a mongerel conceived by a bunch of malcontents after his demise with no direction or true conviction let alone courage.David Penhaligon was the greatest Cornishman of our era ... a political giant who spoke with passion and conviction about his beloved Cornwall in a manner that made the English establishment sit up and take notice... I am not a conspiracy theorist however I have heard it muttered by rational people that Davids tragic untimely end was no accident. What if David had survived... the same question has been agonised over in Eire with regard to that other political genious Michael Collins... but none of us will ever know. What is fact is that the Cornish cause was left high and dry because David was a hard act to follow but it is good to see Mebyon Kernow at last attempting to pick up the torch on behalf of us all... given the current state of politics Mebyon Kernow will be the ones to watch.Kernow Bys Vyken.”

“I am in my lates 40's English Fox. I don't doubt you are being your usual obnoxious sort but there are probably more than one Fox family in England too. I know there are in Kernow which is next door to England just like Wales.I don't delete posts or bother reporting them either. I don't believe in censorship. We shall leave that to the English Government and their followers, shall we?I agree with you poldice. I remember well David's funeral just off Playing Place, Truru. It was packed and there were queues of traffic. One of the finest and indeed unashamedly outspoken Cornish patriots ever and one who made many sensible statements including about the scourge of second homes the the awful damage done by tourism.Kernow bys vyken!”

“Truro_Kernow there is only one obnoxious person disrupting comments and that is you. Your pathetic catch phrases like "next door to England just like Wales" naturally leads people to deduce you are immature and the anger directed at the English only hurts the message you CLAIM to be here trying to sell. If anyone has lived for 40 years and not learnt how to communicate then I truly pity them. No comments should be removed these are just words, but given your political bias and motives for controlling this forum I really question why the moderators are so tolerant of someone who refuses to communicate like an adult and show people a little respect which they are demanding. I refuse to accept any 40 year old man spends his time lurking around the internet 24/7 seeking offense and attention, get a life and act your age.”

“"And yet the Westminster politicians host a party which is poles apart from ours. They aim to tell a story which is very different to the one that we have to tell."
That statement and most of what is written in its self really means nothing. The UK Government is made up of MP's elected by you and me. This statement therefore makes no sense it is only a throw away line, typical of someone who lacks an understanding of the executive, legislative and Judicial system of the UK and how that Governs all of us. It sucks of a statement by someone who has a very basic understand of the supremacy of parliament and more than likely believes Cornwall is governed by someone else.
And may I add we should welcome MK to Cornwall as I am 100% behind having a Democracy! But I am against statements that are made by people who lack a detailed understanding of our constitution.”
