“Anti-Europe sentiment has risen markedly in the UK during the past 12 months, with nearly half the population now holding an unfavourable view of the EU, according to a poll by the German Marshall Fund.http://tinyurl.com/b9f9e2n There is a sense that the euroskeptics have run away with the European agenda since the present coalition government came to power. Polls consistently show that anti-EU sentiment is sweeping Britain: A survey carried out by The Observer newspaper in November 2012 found that 56 percent of the British public would probably or definitely vote for the UK to leave the EU if they were given the choice. The polls make sobering reading for pro-Europeans. That's compounded by the fact that the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP), which wants the country to leave the EU, has moved from the margins of politics to the mainstream over the past year. The party is even threatening to displace the pro-European Liberal Democrats in some areas as the "third force" in British politics.http://tinyurl.com/bffbb4g”

“REALLY!!!... The best thing the Yanks can do is butt out and concentrate on their own highly dysfunctional country.Anti European sentiment is running high because Europe is not working... the EU is riddled with sleaze and corruption the bureaurocracy is mind boggling with individual citizens left to foot the bill whether they like it or not.Without root and branch reform to reposition the EU where it was sold to us, as a free trade area, not a Federal superstate, it will never work as recent events are are graphically demonstrating. The UK has its faults mainly as a result of the dominant English whose perception of divine right sidelines the other nations, with Cornwall most specifically included, that contribute to this richly diverse little Ialand Kingdom off the coast of Western Europe. If the UK were to abandon its recent obsession with fighting unjust wars in cahoots with our so called American Allies, come to terms with the fact that thankfully the Empire is history and concentrate on trade and technology, we could as a tight knit group of small nations united by common purpose, thrive and prosper outside the EU.Lets not be under any illusions that Federal Rule by a German / French dominated Brussels dictatorship will be of any benefit to Cornwall or the Cornish, the way forward is for Cornwall to throw off the bonds of English colonialism in order to work with the entire UK to realise its true potential.Once the English realise that they are not the master race but merely a component of this diverse increasingly vibrant alliance of small nations our diversity will work in everyones favour.”

“""the way forward is for Cornwall to throw off the bonds of English colonialism"They would prefer the chains of European colonisation instead. You heard it here folks, a vote for Cornish nationalism is a vote for rule by Europe and the USA!!”

“The English do work with the Celtic nations. It's just that with the exception of Scotland, which claims ownership of oil - thenon-Cetic Norse Orkneys and Shetlands beg to differ on that point - the rest are skint and rely on English taxation to subsidise their public sector wages, the NHS, state pensions and benefits. If Cornwall didn't have this English cash injection it's people would have the standard of living of rural Bulgaria, which is probably why 60% told the 2011 national census they are solely English and another 15% English and Cornish. That's three quarters of the county think they are wholly or partly English.”
