“A very good question. What has been achieved in Afghanistan? What was achieved in Iraq? What was achieved in Libya? And now this Westminster Government are itching to get involved in Syria, in Mali etc. Neither the means anymore nor the money, all we see are sad cases coming home with their legs and arms missing. And now they are being denied disability payments according to Channel 4. Anyone considering joining the army etc. should watch the programme I saw. These are questions for the Tories. The MK website clearly says that ex army employees should be properly supported.”

“Questions for MK from me, based on their "policies", (which are actually nothing more than unpriced daydreams.) MK "policy" in "quotes".
"Mebyon Kernow is leading the campaign for the self-government of Cornwall, through the establishment of a legislative Assembly."
Do you not think Cornwall is too small and poor for this increase in local government?
What powers would you seek?
Seeing as MK only got 4% of the vote in the last council elections, do you not realise that the people of Cornwall do not want this?
"MK is committed to a Cornish Civil Service to support the new democracy in Cornwall."
What constitutes a "Cornish Civil Service"? (This smacks of nepotism to me.)
"We want Cornwall and its communities to be successful, with all residents sharing equally in that success through thriving businesses, worthwhile and secure employment, decent wages, access to genuinely affordable housing and good quality public services."
Do you really believe it is the job of local government to micro-manage the county's economy?
How would you achieve this noble aim, higher taxes?
"We believe that effective public intervention is needed to combat poverty, tackle social deprivation and fight for the disadvantaged."
How would you raise the funds to tackle this perceived "injustice", more taxes?
"The World faces severe environmental crises, which require radical action on a worldwide basis to promote real sustainability."
More taxes again I suppose?”

“Many people see afgan as a UK/US war, there are so many diffrent countires involved i really can't see why this idea is put out that it is just a some kind of British/American war. With over 50 other countries supporting each other in someway or another. The fact is the UK are authorised by the UN and NATO. I know people have strong feeling about this I for one would like to see us out and you'd hear that from many people. But I am 100% behind our service people.
The service men and women are very well supported by the government and the more backing they get the better in my opinion. I know some are failed, but on the whole things have improved. I am all for spending my tax money on them should they suffer or not from any campaigns they are involved in and even just serving they have my backing.
I asked about Mebyon Kernow because our service people have not been that popular with some on this forum and one area is 'remembrance day' and leading on to this I have checked the MK website haven't found much detail about policy regarding areas of the UK armed forces. Do members of MK support 'Remembrance Day'? Or do they wear white poppies? I would hope they are behind Remembrance Day i 'can not see why they wouldn't be, perhaps some of the pro MK posters would like to clear this point up.”

“The temptation would be to spend hours replying to this those Cornish amongst you who want to see a Cornish rather than English future for Cornwall. Don't! UNLESS you know that you are occupying real activists of other parties or want a bit of fun, just ignore forums. We learned our lesson long and hard in Scotland and now we have an SNP government and the and I say THE referendum in 2014.
Concentrate your efforts. A little a day. Instead of constant and endless chatter with trolls on forums who will not allow themselves to be second best, simply give them an email address where their enquiry should be aimed and walk away.
Post new topics frequently which up party policy on Google searches but leave it at that.
It worked for the SNP and it can work for Mebion Kernow.
I now live in Cornwall but my family are still in the old country. I shall be doing my best to bring the Tories down here as they have little hold in Scotland.
Convince someone to vote for your own party each day, or each week. Run down the opposition as much as you can. Not on pointless forums but out there in reality.
Create despair with comments such as 'Petrol gone up again? Tory Government. Never for the working man. I know who I am voting for."
I might pop in again some time with a few more hints from a seasoned SNP campaigner who came to Cornwall, the homeland of his wife!”

“Brilliant advice Sir.
To answer the points raised above, Mebyon Kernow - the ONLY Polical Party for Cornwall can be contacted in many ways to ask policy or other questions:
Mebyon Kernow contact details: http://tinyurl.com/au9nltd
Big_Ger, Tstrunk etc. please direct your enquiries to MK direct as above.
I'm making a difference in May. I'm going to vote MK.”

“Seems to me you are all avoiding the question and it is all a little bit convenient someone pops up and briefs don't go there,
On the strength of this I now agree with The-Scotsman on posting about MK and our armed forces.
But as it should be easy to find out from the website about their views it such a shame it isn't so.
I wouldn't vote for a party that doesn't openly support the Armed Forces and why should anyone else? I guess the fact here that nobody has bothered to give a view/idea about this shows a problem for anyone thinking about voting for this party.
And for the record all other parties are signed up to supporing our forces in a big way and you can read about it on each of their websites. Still not sure about MK and why anyone would need to email to ask such a question, don't vote for them if they don't back the UK military.
Good day everybody.”
Tuesday, March 12 2013, 10:39PM
“TheTruonian why don't you email them if that matters to you and post what they say.
And also ask them why haven't they placed their support for the British armed forces on their website like other parties? Seems a simple request. I don't think you are making a case for a reason to vote for this party they don't openly support the troops and will give that information if someone emails them. Is it that only Cornish independents matters to them.
Do they want people to vote for them? What is going on when you have to email a party to find out their policy on supporting the UK armed services. Seem rather a difficult and unfriendly party if you ask me. I bet The-Scotsman supports our armed forces.”

No thanks if they do not openly show support for the armed forces that is not up to me contact them and find out why. Should people want to check it out then checkout their website. Other parties are placing great importance on our men and women serving and those that have served. Why isn't MK backing and sign up showing this on their website? Not the place of the public to enter into emails etc.
Here is the Labour Party openly backing our service people.

“I'm not sure this is relevant for the May local elections, but for those who have difficulty in finding things this is on their web site under Global Justice:
Mebyon Kernow – the Party for Cornwall spoke out against the military invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. We support the phased withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, as well as improved support for military personnel who have participated in the conflict.”

“I have been on two particular forums the old BBC and c24, where a Mr Jenkin would readily come on and openly say that he was speaking on behalf of MK, either this person has moved on now or been stopped, I do not know, only to say I would have thought it would have been in MKs interest or any political parties interest to show their face on this forum.
MK are having feedback and know what is being said on here,(if they are not they should be) so come on MK we have a good moderating team on here, you will be well looked after.”

“"I wrote to the "Grand Bard" of the Cornish Gorsedd recently"
You are giving them too much importance by asking B_G, who do these people think they are anyway? This world of fantasy they are in, are they really serious about it and think they carry some clout, no never, they can't be surely.”
Wednesday, March 13 2013, 2:32PM
“Have you looked at your last 2 messages YC - you're actually tri-polar - you'll 'try' anything to get a trolling resonse.
Anyone from MK, or any other serious political party, should give you a wide berth. Nothing they think matters a jot to you, you don't live in Cornwall anyway!”

“The Gorsedh counts amongst it members some very influential people indeed including the last Bishop, academics, business people and so on.
Grand Bard has doubtless been made aware of Big_Ger's correspondence and given it the level of priority she feels it deserves. Neither it nor Big_Ger are that important really, are they?
Anyone is welcomed to wtite to the Gorsedh. There is a full time secretary and I have always enjoyed regular and efficient contact.

It's a mark of the humanity, and decency, of a person how they treat the people who "do not matter", or are seen as unimportant.
I think you have captured your opinion of the attitude of the grand bard very well there, you see her as elitist and a snob.
Your own words portray her so.”
Wednesday, March 13 2013, 9:55PM
“I wrote to your Mr. Cameron four months ago Bigger. A polite, respectful and well reasoned letter.
He never replied.
Perhaps I should quote your words to him, eh?
You will get a reply from the Grand Bard. Even in the Civil Service of old, a holding reply within 14 days was considered good.
Your 'words' have also painted a 'portrait' of you don't forget. Elitist and snobbery? Yes indeed. Pompous as well but hey, it takes all sorts doesn't it Bigger?
You wait your turn.”

“Or, perhaps their absence is a clear indication that they do not consider this forum, with various, strongly opinionated, contributors a worthwhile use of valuable time and resources.
The likes of Big_Ger, yc, Tstrunk, are clearly not going to change their minds any time soon, and why waste time preaching to the converted, the "Nationalists" already know what their policies are.
But what I find amusing is there is no such call for an official representative from any of the other political parties to participate on this forum. Could it be that we already know what the answer to such an invitation would be...........deafening silence.
Some people have a rather inflated view of this little portion of the Internet......................................”

“Of all the parties MK has the most to gain by using on-line forums like this. They are a small, relativity poorly funded party, without any big party machine behind them. Using social media like this could get their message across to a huge number of people at virtually no cost.
They should no involve themselves in debate, just put party policy over in relevant debates, or even start debates on issues which they are strong in, local accountability for instance.
This is a missed chance for MK.”
Friday, March 15 2013, 8:37AM
“"MK are on Facebook and Twitter."
They are unlikely to get their message out via Facebook and Twitter, as they need people to actually search for MK and sign up to be connected to them, or "liked".
So an undecided voter is hardly likey to bother.
As I say;

“"Using social media like this could get their message across to a huge number of people at virtually no cost."
And by not doing so, people can form their own opinions, I suspect with MK being so aloof people on here could think MK are above them and in a different class.”

“Here's a question;
Why is there a total absence of any "£" symbols on any MK policies ion their website.
They have shown us they intend to have "Cornwall only" taxes, but have not told us how much of our money they are going to want, and how much of it will be spent on their pet projects.
How can any party expect people to vote on policies when the party touting them will not say how much they will sting us for?
MK seriously discussed putting a quid a head on beds let for holiday, did you know that!
If you own a B&B or a holiday let, or a small guest house, or a camp-site, or a caravan park, be warned. If MK get in your prices are going up, or your profits are coming down.
Own up MK, how much are you going to cost us!?!?
This will not happen over in Devon. How will that affect your bookings!!”

Toy town politics that is all B_G, all in their minds, "Cornwall only taxes", Cornwall only nothing. “"An end to the in******ble council tax and its replacement with a progressive local income tax."
That quote is straight off the MK website, can't work out what is so wrong with Council Tax, it seems fair. May be the reason they don't open up about this is once again it will cost the working people of Cornwall more money. And the bigger question here is why is there is no detail on this policy.
Even stranger is not one of these people who claim to support MK have a clue about the details of this their parties tax plan. Why?”
Thursday, March 21 2013, 10:08PM
“"MK will establish a Department of Economic Development within the Assembly Government, charged with the task of developing a long-term strategy for a sustainable economy to deliver prosperity for Cornwall. "
More "jobs for the boyos", how much will this cost?
"Support for the less-well-off through the development of a living wage for local workers"
Well bumping wages in Cornwall up will be expensive for Cornish businesses, how much will that cost?
"an increase in the personal tax allowance to £10,000"
Ha! Now which party just did that? Always a day late and a dollar short MK.”
“Would you welcome someone from Mebyon Kernow to come on this forum and answer a few questions on this the run up to the May local elections?
So not to have them coming on here cold, let’s give them a little preview of what kind of questions to expect, if you have any.
If you do not ask you will not get to know will you, so lets have a list of good sensible questions please, I bet a few Nationalists could have some searching questions to ask as well maybe, we will see.
Just for starters
