APPOINTMENTS to Newlyn Harbour Commission will not be made until after the elections.

An independent selection panel has interviewed 16 shortlisted applicants.

The panel met again on Friday, April 16, to agree on those applicants that they were proposing to recommend to the existing board of commissioners.

Harbour master Andrew Munson explained: "We are now in the period of "Purdah" and the new Harbour Revision Order authorising the new board and replacing the existing constitution, cannot be brought into effect until at least May 7."
