Fire engines race to Lizard Point cafe fire
THE cafe at Lizard Point caught fire this morning after a suspected electrical fault.
Flames spread along a cable on the wall of Polpeor Cafe and quickly filled the air with thick black smoke.
Fire engines from Mullion, St Keverne and Helston rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised at 10.30pm.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said a water carrier from Helston was also called but when they arrived, the flames at burn themselves out.

She said: “On arrival at the scene, the crews confirmed that a fire at the premises was extinguished.
“The crews proceeded to inspect the premises and made a request for Western Power to attend.”
Undeterred by drama and loss of power, the cafe stayed open and continued to serve sandwiches and cold drinks.
