Consummate musician and singer songwriter, Jon Brindley from Wigan, will showcase his latest album The Missing Emotion, "...as mesmerising and well-crafted assembly of songs as you'll hear this year." As well as his songwriting skills Jon is an accomplished player of guitar, fiddle and piano amongst other instruments. Although the focus of the evening will be his original songs, Jon is likely to pull a few other goodies out of the bag, throwing in a fiddling folk reel or a rousing interpretation of a familiar song. He loves to perform and delight his audiences and responds favourably to requests.
Jon will be accompanied by James Budden on double bass, who features on his album and has played with the likes of Jackie Oates and Karen Tweed.
"I'm not just a folk musician...now I'm more fluid. I want people to respect me as an artist. I love to entertain people but I also love the fact that I can do anything - I like that dynamic. Much of what I do is 'folk' to my mind though I'm sometimes classed now as a singer/songwriter." - Jon Brindley
"It's hard to describe Jon. He is a guitarist of exceptional ability and multi-instrumentalist to boot, being a very able exponent of both the keyboard and violin. He is also an artist who brings intensity and humour to his performances." - Phil Chapman review of Watson Hall gig.
Jon will be supported by Cornwall's hotly tipped singer songwriter, Kezia, whose gentle and breathtaking vocals, guitar and piano compliment blues, country and folk in genre. Recently the winner of Best Female in the West Briton's Whats On Awards for the second year running, here's a chance to catch her before her star shines brightly throughout the rest of the UK when she tours this year.
Mica Smith, a 2nd year on the Extended Diploma in Music at Truro and Penwith College, will open the evening with a short repertoire of her original songs. She is very excited to be opening the gig with her music. There will be a representative from the college music department on hand to talk to anyone interested in music performance courses run at Truro and Penwith College.
