Clinical research programme for ME and MS sufferers
LOCAL sufferers of ME and MS are being encouraged to take part in a new clinical research programme.
People with either of the conditions are invited to have regular floats so the benefits to their health can be assessed. Floatation is proven to be worth a night's sleep and to increase absorption of magnesium, help combat fatigue, stress and depression.
In short you float in a pod in body temperature water which helps to completely unwind.
Clare Berry, from Float SW, said: "For two years we have seen anecdotal evidence from customers that regular floating has really helped with symptoms of ME and MS. This means we know if people float regularly – fortnightly or weekly – they can see a distinct benefit in their day to day lives. We need to transfer that into some sort of study so that the NHS has a basis on which to start a pilot across the county. We are appealing for people who want to take part to contact us so that we can start the clinical research in the New Year."
Float SW needs 40 people, 20 with ME and 20 with MS, to commit to a 12 week programme. The plan would involve a float every other week and then being assessed.
