St Ives MP Andrew George has, while speaking in the Commons, urged the coalition to bring forward a vote on repealing the Hunting Act. The coalition is committed to holding a vote on whether or not to re-open the issue. Only then would a free vote on repeal – as promised by Conservatives during the election – be held.

Leader of the Commons George Young said it would have to take its place against bids for debates on other subjects.

The vote is not expected to be held this year.
