No light at end of the tunnel for Truro City
The supporters of Truro City Football Club have endured a season of dashed hopes and false promises, so the events of last night may have come as no surprise to the Treyew Road faithful.
What appears certain this time, however, is that a last-ditch rescue bid for the Blue Square Bet South club has failed and it faces expulsion from the competition.

Set a 5pm deadline by the league yesterday, there were early signs that a £10,000 bond from Cornwall Council would satisfy the Conference's need for financial guarantees.
That deadline was even extended by an hour as the club's administrators, Walsh Taylor, sought to confirm a prospective buyer for the stricken club.

But the deadline passed and a statement from the Conference last night confirmed the league game against Dover Athletic tomorrow has been postponed – even if it stopped short of confirming the club's liquidation.
It read: "The club was unable to meet the Football Conference Board's requirements ... to ensure the club's continuing membership of the competition.
"Saturday's match has, therefore, been postponed in the overall interest of the competition and to protect Dover Athletic FC against incurring costs. The Board will now consider Truro City FC's continued participation as a member of the Football Conference."
City entered administration at the start of September after former owner and chairman Kevin Heaney was declared bankrupt and left the club.
Club captain Jake Ash last night appeared to have given up hope of a happy ending, via his Twitter account. He wrote: "Massive love to the fans. Incredible journey, have loved nearly every minute. Very proud to have been part of something amazing. Thank you x."
