EVENTS for the 14-day Lafrowda Festival, St Just include an open mic night tonight at the Star Inn and 'Dreckly Yoga' at the WI Hall on Friday night. On Saturday, there's a pool and euchre knockout at the St Just Royal British Legion and Dreckly come Dancing at Cape Cornwall School. Geevor Tin Mine hosts a pewter and tin- casting workshop on Sunday and there's a ceilidh and barbecue at the Plen an Gwarry in the evening. Monday sees a Zumba and fitness party in St Just Town Hall as well as salsa sessions in the RBL. There's pillow fighting in the Plen an Gwarry taking place on Tuesday at 3pm, with cabaret in the Star Inn from 9pm. Local art exhibitions take place in the Methodist Chapel from Wednesday onwards and a Question of Sport in the Town Hall on Wednesday night. 8.30pm – Praze Fair Show. Entry to the show is £3 for adults, £2 for senior citizens, £1 for under-18s and free for under-12s.

9.30pm – A Feast of Words (and pasties) at The Centre, Newlyn, including readings from playwright and poet Dr Alan Kent, Jenny Fitton and James Penhaligon, plus music, second-hand book sale and puppet show.

2.30pm – Kirsty Fergusson will be at the Apple Tree Café in Sennen signing copies of her book Slow Cornwall while Sanjay Kumar will be cooking up an outdoor feast. Proceeds towards buying shares in Bosavern Community Farm.

7.30pm – Sea shanty group Stamp and Go at The Centre, Newlyn with guest violinist Elizabeth Cowdrey. Tickets £5.

Sunday

10am – Goldsithney Charter Fair Fun Run. Registration at 9am – £5 per individual or £10 per family for the two-mile race in aid of the Charter Fair and Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Noon – Marazion Carnival. Live music, dancers, Squashbox Theatre, games, tug-of-war, barbecue, cream teas and stalls on Folly Field.

2pm – Lifeboat Day in Penberth Gardens with the Sennen Cove lifeboat crew. Cream teas, cakes, stalls and a raffle in aid of the RNLI.

2.15pm – Sancreed Pig Walk, a two-mile stroll around the lanes, starting at the village hall.

A piggy hunt for children will be included this year and the Pigs' Ear Band will be waiting for walkers on the village green where the 20m Olympic Pig Dashes will be held.

8pm – Mount's Bay Singers' summer concert at St Ia Church, St Ives.

Monday

8am – Stithians Show, Cornwall's largest one-day show, starts, with exhibits ranging from horses to cattle, horticulture to poultry, caged birds to dogs, rabbits, sheep, goats and pigeons. Admission, £9 for adults, £3 children.

Tuesday

7.30pm – Christian Helpline in Newlyn where Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall, Colonel Edward Bolitho, is guest speaker at Trinity Methodist Church. Volunteers and friends welcome.

Wednesday

7.30pm – Miracle Theatre presents The Importance Of Being Earnest at Tregenna Castle, St Ives. Tickets, £12 adults.
