The Cornishman

THE ACORN'S back with a vengeance this week.

Tonight sees radio and TV presenter, author, and raconteur Andy Kershaw, pictured, talking about the well-documented ups and downs in his life.

At the Penzance venue tomorrow is the Mirth Control comedy night featuring Taylor Glenn, Matt Dwyer, Damo Clark and compere Iszi Lawrence.

The regular stand-up comedy nights every second Friday of every second month are a huge hit – book early to be sure of getting in.

Mirth Control brings a hearty mix of award-winning and up-and-coming acts from the national circuit to perform in the intimate theatre.

Saturday sees Frankland and Sons take to the stage – a new show created by three generations of the same family about parents, children and falling in love.

When Tom Frankland's aunt died in 2006, he and his father inherited several suitcases containing letters written by his grandparents across 25 years. They reveal the astonishing life and love of a couple living through two world wars and a recession.

Created and performed by double Fringe First award winner Tom Frankland and his dad, John and directed by Fringe First award winner Jamie Wood, Frankland & Sons maps a true story of fathers and sons onto the events of the last 100 years.
