THIS little piggy was saved from the market after his owners realised the giant boar could be the biggest in the country.

In fact, Boris is so big that Paul and Charlotte Parfitt, who farm at Chyvarloe Farm near Helston, have decided to send his vital statistics off to Guinness World Records because they believe he is probably the biggest pig in the UK.

The monster porker, who sires between 65 and 70 piglets a year, is a four-year-old white-cross Gloucester boar, bought by the couple when he was tiny enough to fit in the palm of a hand.

The aim had been to buy a few pigs to fatten up as a one-off but it turned out that Boris was just too special to send to the slaughterhouse.

"In the first batch we purchased was Boris – a pig that was to prove truly phenomenal, in both growth and personality," said Paul.

"It was only the fact that he developed into such a phenomenal size that we thought we would keep him for breeding." Dean Orr, who works at Lentern's butchers in Penzance, said the average sausage weighs around 80 grams, meaning Boris could make up to 6,250 sausages.
