THERE was defeat for all of the top three teams on Saturday, Grampound Road, Gorran and Redruth.

Grampound Road still lead by 36 points but only 14 points now cover six teams in the chasing pack. Sunday's heavy rain washed out the Hayle v Troon and Penzance v Camborne re-arranged games.

The game at Penzance has been speedily rescheduled for this Sunday August 2. Camborne have other games outstanding with Launceston (Aug 9) and Bude (Aug 16).

Luckett 179, Grampound Road 159-8

LUCKETT caused a surprise to give Grampound Road only their second defeat of the season. In a good team effort most of the Luckett batsmen contributed in their 179, with Ian Clements top scoring with 29 and Mark Southcott made 21.

Martin Roberts took four for 34 and Ben Rowse three for 25.

Chris Roberts hit 40 in the Road reply, with Martin Roberts making 28 and Dave Wilton 24. John Schuttkacker took four for 28.

Gorran 151, Troon 152-5

SECOND placed Gorran went down to a five wicket defeat at Treslothan Road in a game where both teams were short of leading batsmen.

Craig Davies held the Gorran innings together, making 92. Steve Eddy bowled well taking four for 28. Dave Jenkin (15) and Mark Jenkin added 59 for Troon's second wicket.

Gorran's hopes were raised when Troon lost two wickets with their score on 82, but Danny Mitchell (37) and James Rowe (22 not out) added 57 runs for Troon's fifth wicket.

Camborne 117, Launceston 106

AFTER a delayed start at Ladycross Camborne were soon in trouble at seven for three. Howver, six of the remaining batsmen got into double figures to see the hundred up, led by Luke Johnson with 24.

Simon Blackburn picked up three early wickets but with Andy Birkett going well at 78 for three, a home win looked likely.

He was dismissed for 54, however, as Launceston lost their last seven wickets for 28 runs.

Wadebridge 237, Redruth 189

AFTER being 20 for three Wadebridge's Nick Yelland hit a superb century.

Big hitter Yelland struck nine fours and 11 sixes in his 87 ball innings.

And there was a sting in the tail as the last pair of James Maycock (34no) and Andy Barrett added 42 for the last wicket. Ben Stevens and Josh Wingfield both took three wickets.

Nick King made 31 and Aaron Penberthy 38 to get the visitors to 121 for three with 20 overs to go before the innings drifted away, leaving Nigel Hambly unbeaten on 38.

Penzance w/o Bude – Bude conceded.

BUDE forfeited their game at St Clare on Saturday due to a shortage of available players.

In a statement to the league Bude said: "We lost many players before the season started and this has been compounded by losing six more players during the season, due to long term injury, moving away and job commitments.

"We have so many very young players in the second and third teams and feel that it would be unwise and unfair to play them in what is a very good standard of cricket in Division One.

"We will do all we can to fulfil the remaining fixtures."
