THE BBC's Countryfile has been filming at the National Seal Sanctuary in Gweek following the rescue of seal pup Dudley.

Rescue team members were followed on Saturday when they received a call regarding a seal pup which had been washed up.

Dudley was suffering from breathing problems, an ulcer in the roof of his mouth and grazing to his rear flippers and was taken to the Sanctuary to begin his rehabilitation process.

Having previously filmed at the sanctuary in January, Katrina Bradley, of the Countryfile programme supports the work carried out and was keen to follow a rescue story.

"I love the work that the team do at the sanctuary and knew it would be perfect for this Sunday's programme," said Katrina.

Countryfile's presenter Matt Baker, who previously worked for Blue Peter for eight years, followed the rescue.

Being interviewed by Matt for the documentary was the sanctuary's Laura Ward.

"This time of year is always a busy one for us, especially as we had three pups rescued in three days," said Laura.

The pups will now start their rehabilitation process at the sanctuary, which will last about four months, before being released back into the wild.

Countryfile is shown on BBC one on Sundays at 7pm. The Seal Sanctuary's story will be shown this Sunday.
