Surf's up for school

Tuesday, June 02, 2009, 11:04

TICKET to Ride Worldwide Surfing Adventures has recently opened its first UK surf academy in Perranporth.

To mark the occasion the Ticket to Ride Surf Academy will be hosting an official opening event on Saturday, June 13 offering 'free taster surf sessions' on a first come first served basis throughout the day followed by a barbeque next door at Seiners Hotel, bar and restaurant.

Registration for the free sessions will kick off at 9am at the TTRide Headquarters down at the beachfront on Perranporth.

Coaching director Sam Miller who has lived in Perranporth for the last 10 years said: "It has long been in Ticket to Ride's plan to open a surf school in the UK and I couldn't be happier to be the man in charge down here making it all happen."

Sam has recently taken on the role as the academy's coaching director after recently returning from a second busy winter running the TTRide South Africa Surf Instructor courses.

Ticket To Ride co-founder Will Hayler concludes: "The last five years have been focused on developing TTRide surf adventure courses in South Africa, Central America and Europe. However, we have always felt confident that we would bring something exciting to the already well established learn to surf market here in Britain.

"Perranporth in Cornwall is a great spot with over two miles of beach and beautiful glassy waves so is the natural first choice for the first UK-based TTRide Surf Academy."
