The museum was established in 1949 in a former butter market it has subsequently expanding into the adjourning meat market. Its vast collections are from former crafts and industries that flourished in the area during the 19th and 20th centuries. The 200 acre site is the setting for some wild coastal walks and amazing natural rock formations. On the southern most tip of the peninsula are two small smuggler's coves linked by a tunnel which local miners carved through the headland. Land's End is the most western tip of mainland England and as a result attracts many visitors who flock to enjoy the dramatic cliff scenery.
