I HAVE recently discovered via the internet that Asda are selling Halal meat.

This led my train of thought to animal welfare and where this practice sits with the normally vociferous animal rights brigade.

Campaign groups are quick to gather en masse to protest against, say, hunting with hounds, yet not a peep when it comes to ritual slaughter. Could this be because the people behind organised animal rights campaigns are not actually motivated by animal welfare, but by a class, or perceived class, agenda?
